Smoaky’s summary of Cowboys Training Camp, Thursday, July 31st…
Pretty uneventful day on Thursday.
Cowboys had the one afternoon practice, and the big talk came after Marion Barber all but knocked-out linebacker Tyson Smith during pass protection drills.
I didn’t get a chance to watch much, because it coincided with our afternoon talk show.
Meanwhile, my son and daughter were excited to know the rap band, “Three 6 Mafia”, was at practice to film something to Terrell Owens.
Jamie Lent returned from the Wade Phillips post-practice press conference excited he had a few cuts that could be aired, including one of Wade discussing the importance of the next two days as players grind through the first few days of camp.
Cowboys linebackers coach, and former A&M All-American, Dat Nguyen, told me the practice schedule might change this weekend.
The current schedule has two practices on Friday, one on Saturday, and two on Sunday…but Nguyen told me they might go back-to-back on Friday and Saturday with two practices, and give the players a day off on Sunday.
Cowboys Television dropped by and gave me a copy of the feature they’ll air about our setup and the show during this weekend’s “Special Edition” with Brad Sham and Jerry Jones.
Photojournalist Bill Carruthers did an amazing job, and at first–when he told me they’d cut the time alloted from 5-minutes to 2 1/2, I was crushed—-but then I saw the piece, and it’s very well done.
I think the “Special Edition” show airs in East Texas on KFXK-Fox 51 on Sunday morning at 10:00am.
Friday’s show will include:
Mac Engel, Cowboys beat-writer, Fort Worth Star-Telegram
Roy Williams, Cowboys safety
Mike Jenkins, Cowboys cornerback
Dave Matter, Big XII North Writer
Keith Gardner, Head Coach of the 2-time defending state champion Alto Yellowjackets
And who knows—what else?
