Posted: Wednesday, 24th March 2010 1:58PM
TYLER -- There will soon be another option for Tyler's growing retiree population. Touchstone Communities held a blessing and dedication Tuesday for its first neighborhood community in Tyler, the Heights of Tyler. Touchstone is a growing provider of rehabilitation therapies, skilled long-term care and assisted-living facilities in Texas and Arizona. The facility is expected to open for residents in early 2011. The Heights of Tyler is made up of four neighborhoods, each containing clusters of private and semi-private rooms for approximately 120 residents. Company staffers say all ill be under 24-hour care of a dedicated staff of professionals in a home-like atmosphere. The site is at 2650 Elkton Trail, off Old Jacksonville Highway.

According to a news release, "This innovative community is modeled after the nationally acclaimed neighborhood concept, which has significantly changed the perception of assisted living for both residents and staff from one of an institution to one of a home." The Heights of Tyler is Touchstone’s first community in Tyler and only the third long-term care neighborhood community in Texas, according to a company news release.

A news release says San Antonio-based Touchstone provides health care services, including skilled nursing, rehabilitation, Alzheimer’s care and assisted living for the elderly. With 1,200 team members, Touchstone Communities independently owns nine communities in Texas, including San Antonio, Brenham, Del Rio, La Vernia, Pleasanton, Rockdale, Snyder; and two in Arizona, both in Prescott. Touchstone also manages State of Texas veterans’ homes in Amarillo, Bonham, Floresville and Temple. You can go to http://www.Touchstone-Communities.com for more information.
