Pedestrian at Fault in Fatal Tyler Accident

TYLER � The pedestrian who was fatally struck in Tyler has been identified as Ruben Oswald Orantes, 47, of California. Police say Orantes was staying in a local hotel and was working with a tree trimming business. Investigators believe that Orantes was walking back to his hotel when he was struck crossing Gentry Parkway by a southbound vehicle. He was taken to ETMC, where he died later from his injuries. Police say Orantes failed to cross the road at a designated crosswalk and is determined to be at fault in the crash. The accident happened just after12:15 Monday morning in the 3200 block of West Gentry Parkway.
