TYLER Local grocery stores began stocking their shelves with beer and wine Friday. Brookshires, FRESH by Brookshires, and Super 1 Foods stores in Tyler have received permit approval from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission to begin selling beer and wine for off-site consumption. Brookshires Grocery Company began selling the products Friday afternoon. Tylerites passed Proposition 2, the legal sale of beer or wine for off premise consumption only, in the November 6 General Elections.

Brookshires Spokeswoman Ellen Reynolds tells KETK a variety of beer and wine products will be available in each store where alcohol sales are now allowed. What they choose will be based on the stores size, along with other factors. The FRESH by Brookshires store on Old Jacksonville Highway will offer an expanded variety including craft beers and a larger selection of wines at varying prices.
