2nd Charge Brought Against Mall Shooter

923916192018TYLER — A second charge has been brought against the man accused in a fatal shooting at Tyler’s Broadway Square Mall. Ricky Neal Jr, of Henderson, is has now been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly. According to investigators, the 25-year-old shot at and missed Jonathan Lamone Dews, 29, Tyler. Neal is currently in the Smith County Jail on a charge of 1st degree murder as well as the additional charge. His bonds total $1,250,000. Neal allegedly shot and killed Chris Mass, 23, at the mall Saturday morning after an argument. Mass was pronounced dead at the scene. In an appearance in court yesterday, Neal signed a paper saying he could not afford an attorney. State District Judge Kerry Russell appointed as Neal’s attorney, O.M. “Buddy” Lloyd.
