Smith County Honors Volunteers
Posted/updated on: April 23, 2013 at 1:27 pmTYLER Smith County Sheriff Larry Smith and other County employees gathered in the Smith County Commissioners Courtroom Monday to honor volunteers of the Smith County Volunteer Services program. Since the programs inception in 2009, volunteers have worked over 16,000 hours. Thats saved Smith County taxpayers $351,625.23, based on the Independent Sectors Value of Volunteer Time.
I am very grateful to all of these individuals who choose to give their time and effort to help various County departments. These are people of all ages and backgrounds who help all of us by volunteering, said Sheriff Smith. Leading the program with Sheriff Smith were Major Deal Folmar and Alicia Armstrong of the Sheriffs Office.
