Deb Office Pic 1TYLER — During Wednesday’s Tyler City Council meeting, City Manager Mark McDaniel announced the appointment of the new City attorney, Deborah Pullum. The current city attorney, Gary Landers, announced his retirement in May and plans to stay with the City until May 2014. “I am pleased that the new city attorney is someone whose legal knowledge and judgment I know and respect,” said Landers. “I look forward to her tenure as Tyler’s City attorney. The City is in good hands.”

Pullum began her career as the assistant city attorney with the City of Tyler on November 1, 2004 and then was promoted to senior city attorney. She has lived in Tyler since junior high school and went to John Tyler High School. She earned her law degree from the Marshall Wythe School of Law at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, in 1996 after obtaining her Bachelor of Science degree from Florida A&M University with a major in business administration. “Deborah competed with a strong and diverse group from around the state and nation, and is clearly the strongest candidate and best suited to serve our organization,” said McDaniel. Prior to working for the City of Tyler, Pullum was an assistant district attorney for the Smith County District Attorney’s Office from 1997 to 2004.

“I am both honored and humbled to be given this wonderful opportunity,” she said. “I look forward to serving the City in this new position.” Pullum is married to Ronald Pullum and they have three sons.
