KETK reports the suspects are Evelyn Ward and Judy Suarez, both 56. Sheriff Jason Bridges stated that an ongoing drug investigation led to the seizure of nearly two grams of methamphetamine, marijuana, numerous pills, and a handgun along with other drug paraphernalia.

The sheriff’s office obtained information that drug activity was occurring at a home on CR 915. An investigation was conducted by the sheriff’s office that targeted a woman living at the residence. Deputies arrived at the residence around 7:00pm, and spoke with two people who were there. Deputies obtained consent to search the residence from the owner.

During the search, deputies found methamphetamine inside the residence and inside a purse where a loaded handgun was also concealed, according to Bridges. He says numerous prescription pills that did not belong to either woman, and were mixed together in several different bottles, were also found.

Both women were charged with possession of a controlled substance, a state jail felony; possession of a dangerous drug, a class A misdemeanor; and possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor. Suarez was also charged with unlawfully carrying of a weapon by a concealed handgun carrier and three counts of possession of a controlled substance, both class A misdemeanors. The suspects were booked into the Nacogdoches County Jail.
