TxDOT signTYLER — Here’s a quick look at other work planned in the Tyler District of the Texas Department of Transportation.

PALESTINE – Work associated with the Texas Department of Transportation’s annual preventative maintenance program known as District-Wide Seal Coat is scheduled to continue this week in Anderson County as it moves through all eight counties of the Tyler District, treating nearly 300 miles of roadway before concluding work in August. Several days of rain in the past week delayed the crew moving into Anderson County. The rain pushed work scheduled for SSE Loop 256 to Sunday.

“We don’t do a lot of seal coat work on Sundays,” said TxDOT spokesman Larry Krantz. “But in this case, we’re hoping Sunday work might work in our favor with less traffic on that part of the loop.” Crews on Sunday worked sunup to sundown on the Loop between U.S. Highway 79 South and U.S. Highway 84 East. Once that work is complete, crews are scheduled to seal U.S. 287 between S.E. Loop 256 and Farm Road 2419 south of Palestine before moving into Cherokee County. Daytime lane closures will be in effect in each location while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic in two-lane areas. Loose gravel may be present for several days following a seal coat application.
