paul_a._mengel_jr.BOSSIER CITY, LA. A man wanted in Longview for murder has been captured at his Bossier City residence by a contingent of law officers. According to KETK, members of the U.S. Marshals Violent Offender Task Force, with the assistance of Bossier City Police and Shreveport Police, arrested Paul Anthony Mengel Jr., 27, at his home in the 1400 block of Gibson Drive at 1:30 Tuesday afternoon. Mengel was previously wanted for the shooting death of a Joey Espy on July 7.

Upon learning Mengels location from Longview Police, officers converged on his home. At one point, officials say, Mengel left the house and was ordered to surrender but retreated back inside. Officers continued to order Mengel to give up but he refused, according to authorities. Three women eventually exited the house but Mengel remained inside, according to law enforcement. A Bossier City Police K-9 was then deployed to assist with taking Mengel into custody. As a result, Mengel sustained a dog bite to his back and was taken into custody without further incident. Mengel was treated at a Louisiana hospital for the dog bite and was booked into Bossier City Jail as a fugitive following his release from the hospital.
