Fire Destroyes Lufkin Home

LUFKIN — A Lufkin home has been destroyed by fire. But, because a 5 year old girl got her family up, no injuries were reported. The fire was reported shortly after 9:45 Friday morning in the 1400 block of Sayers Street. Lufkin Fire Marshal Steve McCool tells KETK the little girl woke her mother up after the smoke alarms did not sound. Everyone was able to escape safely. The fire is thought to have started in a bedroom. The cause of the fire has not been released.
