Whitney McFarlandFRANKSTON Two East Texas nursing home workers have been jailed after allegedly using patients funds to pay for things for themselves. Thats according to KETK. Frankston Police Chief Richard Goodman says Robin Slaughter, 43, and Whitney McFarland, 26, (pictured) both turned themselves in to the Frankston Police Department and Anderson County Sheriffs Office around 8:00 Tuesday evening. The nerve of some people, said Goodman. Its hard to trust anyone these days.

According to KETK, Slaughter and McFarland reportedly embezzled $2,200 from a trust fund established for clients at the nursing home. The women were in charge of the fund, but instead of spending the money on the patients, they went shopping for themselves, according to authorities. Goodman said the women bought designer purses, jeans, and blouses with the stolen money. There are two charges against each woman, and each charge carries a maximum 10-year sentence and $10,000 fine. The women were booked into the jail on charges of misapplication of fiduciary funds and exploitation of elder or disabled individuals, and bond was set at $50,000 each.
