deforemugacsoPALESTINE — A Palestine woman is behind bars after she allegedly burglarized a Palestine barbecue restaurant. KETK reports April Nicole DeFore, 38, was arrested on Wednesday night for reportedly breaking into Shep’s BBQ in the 1000 block of East Palestine Avenue. Police responded shortly before 9:00 p.m., after receiving a report that someone had been seen entering the building through a window. Police arrived and found that a window on the front of the building had been broken.

Cpl. Brian Lintner was the first to respond. Lintner made his way to the back of the building and saw a woman inside the building near the back door. Police say the woman ran back into the building and out the front door. After a short foot chase, Lintner was able to take the subject into custody. DeFore was taken to the Anderson County Jail, where she was processed for the offense of burglary of a building. That’s a state jail felony which carries a sentence of up to two years in a state jail facility.

After talking to the witness, police learned that there may have been a male involved in the burglary. The investigation is ongoing as police try and identify the male suspect. Anyone with information concerning this or any other crime is asked to call the Palestine Police Department at 903-729-2254 or Crime Stoppers at 903-729-8477.
