TYLER — The Annual Texas Rose Festival is underway, continuing through Sunday. Rose Queen Rachel Clyde cut the ribbon on the festivities Thursday morning. Rachel says she doesn’t think people realize how much the festival does for the community. She told KTBB, “It brings so many people to Tyler, and so they have to stay in hotels obviously…It’s great for our economy and brings so much money in.” On a more personal note regarding her reign as Queen, Rachel says, “It’s really been special just to get to see kind of another side of it. I…didn’t realize all of the tradition that actually goes into everything, and I’ve just really learned so much about our community throughout the whole process. It’s been really neat.”
The Festival includes a variety of activities each year: the Ladies’ and Men’s Luncheons, the Queen’s Tea, the Rose Parade, and lots more. You can go to http://www.texasrosefestival.net/ for more information.
