The fire occurred on October 9th in the 2600 block of Border Avenue. The recognition came during a short presentation before the last night’s homecoming football game between John Tyler and Lindale, with fire department representatives on hand to present the award.
According to reports, Cadarius was in the home when the fire started in a bedroom area of the structure. After smelling smoke, he quickly led three children out of the residence and returned inside to notify another adult occupant that remained in the home. Once all occupants were safely outside the residence, Cadarius utilized one of the home’s water hoses and began spraying water into one of the bedroom windows. Investigators on scene reported that this action likely slowed the progress of the fire until the fire department arrived.
