ssmugSULPHUR SPRINGS — An East Texas murder suspect is in stable condition and under police watch in a Tyler hospital after leaping off an overpass on Interstate 30. The Sulphur Springs Police Department tells KETK Tony DeWayne Crayton, 31, was flown to the hospital and will be served with an arrest warrant for murder upon his release. Police responded to a home on Morris Drive around 1:00 Tuesday afternoon. When officials arrived at the home and knocked on the door, nobody answered, so they began to search the perimeter and spotted a body lying on the floor through the window. Officials forced entry into the house and discovered the body of a woman identified as Jessica Tyler Crayton, 27. According to authorities, she suffered severe trauma to her neck.

While at the location of the body, investigators received a call about a man who was threatening to jump from the League Street overpass on Interstate 30. By the time investigators made it to the overpass, Tony Crayton had already jumped, but was not struck by any cars. Police say the Craytons have a child together, but they are not sure whether or nor the two are still married. When released from the hospital, Crayton will be booked into the Hopkins County Jail on a charge of murder. The investigation into the murder is being conducted by the Sulphur Springs Police Department and the Texas Rangers.
