LONGVIEW — Earlier this week we brought you the story of a Spring Hill student who left the district because of severe bullying. She enrolled down the road in Longview ISD. But was her case the tip of the iceberg? KETK reports more parents are coming forward, with some calling it a complete nightmare. They say students in the Spring Hill school district are being bullied and there’s nothing being done to stop it.

For more than one year, Cherie Pruitt’s 13-year-old year old daughter, Caitlin, has reportedly been bullied at school — “and it’s just constant, it’s daily,” according to Ms. Pruitt. She says girls call her daughter names, spread rumors about her, and publicly humiliate her on Facebook. On one Facebook post, the girls say they will jump Caitlin. Ms. Pruitt says due to the emotional pressure of bullying in the past from the same group of girls, Caitlin has acted out by cutting herself. Ms. Pruitt continues, “I’m very afraid that if this continues, that she will start again, and my child’s life is in danger.”

Pruitt is just one of several parents who have contacted KETK about the bullying problem. They all say they just want it to stop. The TV station has tried all week to speak to someone with the district about the reported problem. Superintendent Dr. Wes Jones responded by email, “Spring Hill ISD is addressing every reported case of bullying and wants every student to feel safe.”
