Posted/updated on: November 7, 2013 at 3:56 pmLONGVIEW — The City of Longview and Longview Transit are seeking input from residents through a public forum and survey about pedestrian access to bus service. A public forum will be held from 4:00 to 6:00pm today at the Longview Public Library, 222 West Cotton Street. Free one-day bus passes will be given to the first twenty participants at the public forum.
The public forum is part of a planning process to determine future infrastructure projects related to the bus system. The planning is focused on the issue of pedestrian transit access along several central streets in Longview on Routes 2, 3, and 6. Route 2 covers the Medical District and Longview High School on Fourth Street and Judson Road. Route 3 includes the Pine Tree and Spring Hill area along Gilmer Road and Spring Hill Road. Route 6 includes southeast Longview along MLK Blvd, Eastman Road, Estes Parkway, Mobberly Avenue, and others.
In addition to the public forum, input will be sought through surveys distributed to bus riders and nonprofit agencies. Longview Transit will also seek to gain input from attendees at upcoming community events, such as the the Coats for Kids event on Saturday, November 9.
