East Texan Appointed as Ambassador to the Dominican Republic

wallyWASHINGTON, D.C. — An East Texan has been appointed as the United States Ambassador to the Dominican Republic by President Barack Obama. KETK reports James “Wally” Brewster, who is originally from Lindale, attended Tyler Junior College and is now the fifth openly LGBT ambassador to be appointed this year. He has been confirmed by the United States Senate, and his swearing in ceremony by Vice President Joe Biden will take place in Washington, D.C., on November 22.

After graduating from Texas A&M University in 1983 with a degree in Business Administration, he began working in Dallas at the Jim Collins Company and Carla Francis Incorporated. Brewster now resides in Chicago with his partner, Bob Satawake, and is a managing partner at SB&K Global, a consulting firm. He was also heavily involved in the fundraising to elect President Obama.
