thumb_police-longview2LONGVIEW — Longview police responded to a carjacking and stabbing Friday. According to KETK and the Longview News-Journal, a woman armed herself and approached the front door of her Pine Tree home when her guard dogs began barking loudly at 2:45 a.m. Friday. When her warnings, which included the sound of her taking off the guns safety and cocking the weapon, were answered by calls for help, she asked what was wrong. The voice in the dark said he had been attacked, stabbed by a hitchhiker he had met earlier in the neighborhood. Edi Flowers called her six dogs inside from behind their electric fence, invited the injured man inside the home she shares with her husband, and called 911.

Giving a description of the mans new car to police en route, Flowers said officers spotted the vehicle and gave chase. An overnight manhunt ensued when the driver abandoned the car, with multiple Longview police officers assisted by a law enforcement helicopter, she said. It is not known whether the mans assailant was captured. Police spokeswoman Kristie Brian said information on the overnight incident would not be available until Monday. Flowers said the man had several stab wounds. He was stabbed all over, she said.

Longview Fire Marshal Johnny Zackary confirmed paramedics took a person by ambulance from that neighborhood to Longview Regional Medical Center around 3 a.m. Emergency dispatch records did not include further details, he said. The night supervisor at that hospital said Friday night that she had no record of anyone with that mans name, indicating either that he did not seek medical help or signed a non-disclosure form hospitals must honor under federal privacy law.
