Man Accused of Punching Firefighter Assisting in DWI Crash

thumb_police-8LINDALE — A local man is in jail after allegedly assaulting a firefighter who was assisting in a Lindale-area crash the suspect reportedly caused. Jason Horton, 33, of Van, was driving when he caused a wreck with another motorist, according to Smith County DPS Trooper Jean Dark. KETK reports Lindale Fire Department officials were called to the scene, and as crews were assisting the drivers, Horton allegedly punched the firefighter. Horton was booked into the Smith County Jail on charges of DWI and assaulting a public servant.
