Significant Fire Damage to Tyler Home

burnedhouseTYLER Fire has damaged a Tyler home. The blaze began in the front bedroom of the house in the 1100 block of Shaw Street off Old Noonday Road. The initial call was received by fire crews from a passerby at just after 9:45 yesterday morning. Authorities say the fire was quickly brought under control. One person was inside the home, but got our safely. Investigators with the Tyler Fire Marshals Office believe that the fire originated in a bedroom closet. The point of origin appears to be located near a light fixture. No injuries were reported and the American Red Cross was notified to assist the occupants.

The Tyler Fire Department reminds citizens to ensure they have properly installed and operable smoke alarms throughout their homes. Having working smoke alarms installed inside of your home greatly reduces your risk of death from a fire, according to officials.
