Donald SandersTYLER — Former City Councilman Donald Sanders has filed for Smith County Commissioner Precinct 4 in the 2014 Democratic Primary. He’ll face longtime incumbent JoAnn Hampton. Sanders, 61, was reared and educated in Smith County and Precinct 4. He retired from the Kelly Springfield Tire Plant after 33 years of employment.

According to a news release, Sanders feels that serving maximum term limits as a city councilman has helped to prepare him for Commissioners Court. He has also continued to serve on numerous boards and committees. Sanders adds that he “has kept the citizens of Tyler…at the forefront of all of his efforts” and has worked “tirelessly for the improvements in the city of Tyler.” According to the news release, Sanders “recognizes the continual need for roads and drainage improvements. He wants to continue to build partnerships and relationships to develop Precinct 4 in Smith County to its fullest potential toward economic growth. He is committed to improving the quality of life for all citizens in Precinct 4 and Smith County.”
