Drug Bust Nets Two in Cherokee County
Posted/updated on: December 10, 2013 at 12:27 pmGALLATIN — An investigation by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department has resulted in the arrest of two persons on drug charges. Taken into custody was Steven Ray Davis, 42, of Gallatin, and Samantha Douglas, 26, of Jacksonville. Both have been charged with the manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance and theft of a firearm. Their bonds total $45,000 each.
Investigators had been gathering information into the suspected sale of narcotics from a residence on County Road-1310 in the Gallatin community. An affidavit of probable cause was prepared and presented to Judge Forest Phifer, who issued a narcotics search warrant. Then, sheriff’s deputies, with assistance from a Jacksonville PD Investigator and an officer from Rusk Police Department, executed the warrant. They found in the home a significant amount of methamphetamine, over $1,000 in cash, a stolen firearm and assorted drug paraphernalia.
