thumb_TISD_Logo_NewTYLER – Tyler ISD will soon begin using its Blackboard Connect notification system to send important information quickly via text messages to parents, students and employees when an event is urgent or time-sensitive. Examples could include event cancellations, school closures or delays, lockdowns or any other notice that the District deems necessary to send via text message. “The Blackboard Connect text messaging feature provides another opportunity for the District to communicate more effectively with our parents, students, and employees,” Tyler ISD Superintendent Gary Mooring said. “Sending texts, in addition to the phone call system already in place through Blackboard Connect, will further enhance our ongoing efforts to improve communications across the District.”

To comply with wireless carrier requirements and protect against unsolicited text messages, those who have shared wireless phone numbers with their school received a welcome text message from the District earlier this morning. No action to the text is required for anyone wishing to receive future text messages from the District. However, those who wish to unsubscribe from the feature should reply with STOP TISDTXT to be removed from the list.

Standard text message rates do apply and will not be paid for by Tyler ISD. Therefore, users are asked to check with their wireless carrier for possible charges. Anyone who does not receive the welcome text message should contact his or her school to update his or her contact information.
