Ralph HallFORT WORTH (AP/STAFF) — Ninety-year-old Texas Congressman Ralph Hall, the oldest person ever to serve in the U.S. House, says his 2014 campaign will be his last. The Rockwall Republican filed once again for his House seat, along with five Republican primary challengers, but said last week that it will be his last campaign. At one time, Hall’s district included Smith County.

The World War II Navy fighter pilot says internal polling showed that when asked about someone running at 90, a sizable 20 percent of people would be against him based on age. He says “That helped me decide that this should probably be my last time.” But Hall, first elected to the U.S. House in 1980, is confident that he can win in 2014. He says he’s looking forward to campaigning for re-election.
