TxDOT signTYLER — Here’s a quick look at other work planned in Smith County by the Tyler District of the Texas Department of Transportation.

Projects Under Construction
• Loop 323 – Resurfacing between US 69 North and American Legion Drive. The $3.8 million project let to contract in March 2013, began in July 2013 and is scheduled to be completed in spring 2014. Reynolds & Kay, Ltd., of Tyler, is the contractor.

• Farm Road 14 – Widening roadway for center turn lane between Ford Road and Hoyt Road. The $930,000 project let to contract in April 2013, began in October and is scheduled to be completed in spring 2014. APAC-Texas, Inc., of Dallas, is the contractor.

• State Highway 64 – Widen to four lanes between Tyler Pounds Regional Airport and SCR 1184. The $2.4 million project let to contract in May 2013, began in August and is scheduled to be completed in spring 2014. Big Creek Construction, Ltd., of Hewitt, is the contractor.

• Spur 364, Farm Road 2908 – Widen Spur 364 to add turn lanes and resurface between SH 31 and Loop 323 in Tyler, and add shoulders between Greenbriar Road and Loop 323. Add shoulders to FM 2908 between Old Longview Highway and SCR 393. The $2.9 million project let to contract in May 2013, began in August, and is scheduled to be completed in spring 2014. Big Creek Construction, Ltd., of Hewitt, is the contractor.

Upcoming FY 2014 Projects
• State Highway 31 – Widening to accommodate passing lanes in various locations between FM 850 and FM 757 east of Tyler. The $3.5 million project let to contract in September 2013, and is scheduled to begin in January 2014. East Texas Bridge, Inc., of Longview is the contractor.

• Loop 323 – Widening to six lanes between Elm Street and Bellwood Street, adding concrete medians and replacing UPRR bridge to eliminate current bottleneck. Also calls for installing dual-left turn lanes. The $12.1 million project let to contract in November 2013 and is scheduled to begin in February 2014. Longview Bridge and Road, Ltd. , of Longview, is the contractor.

• U.S. Highway 69 – Lowering northbound lanes to improve sight distance for new development between Toll 49 and Cumberland Road in Tyler. The project will also add northbound right-turn lanes and two southbound left-turn lanes at newly signalized intersections. The $2 million project is being fully funded by the developer. No state money is involved in this project. The project is scheduled to let in January 2014 and begin in April 2014.

• State Highway 64 – Widen to accommodate passing lanes in various locations between FM 3226 in Chapel Hill to SH 135 near Arp. Crews will also add textured shoulders between Loop 323 in Tyler and SH 135 near Arp. The approximate $3.6 million project is scheduled to let in February 2014.

• State Highway 110 – Repair and resurface between Aberdeen Drive just south of Loop 323, to SCR 2121. The approximate $1.5 million project is scheduled to let in March 2014.

• Interstate Highway 20 – Repair and resurface eastbound lanes only between US 69 and FM 14, and westbound between Lavender Road and US 69. The approximate $2.1 million project is scheduled to let in March 2014.

Seal Coat Roads*
• Farm Road 344 – Between State Highway 155 and Farm Road 346 in Teaselville
• State Highway 64 – Between State Highway 135 north of Arp and Farm Road 15 near the Rusk County Line
