vanessa_carr_mug_2_smith_coTYLER — A Tyler stabbing incident has landed a woman in jail and the victim in a Dallas hospital. Shortly after 6:30 Saturday evening, the Tyler Police Department received a 911 call stating that a woman had been stabbed at 732 W. Harmony. Officers responded to the scene and found Tommie Lynn Shackleford with two stab wounds. The suspect, identified as Vanessa Carr (pictured), was still on scene.

Police say Carr was quickly detained without incident. They say the on-scene investigation determined that the offense was a result of an argument between two neighbors that had escalated into violence. Shackleford was transported to East Texas Medical Center with a serious stab wound to the head and ear. She was then flown to Dallas for further care. Carr was transported to the Smith County Jail, where she was booked in for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and tampering with evidence.
