kj_hurdTYLER — One man is arrested following a Tyler shooting. Police were called to the Rose Valley Apartment Complex, 1007 Loop 323 N NW, just after 9:00 Friday night and found that a 25-year-old woman had been shot in the face. She was taken to ETMC with non life-threatening injuries. She is expected to make a full recovery. After further investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Ke’Avier Jarrod (KJ) Wilson-Hurd, 20, Tyler. He was booked into the Smith County Jail on an aggravated assault charge with bond set at $500,000. No motive for the shooting has been released.

Hurd has a criminal history in Smith County, including a 2010 charge of assault causing bodily injury to a family member. He also was charged with unlawfully carrying a weapon in August of 2013, after he was found waving a gun in the road in a Tyler neighborhood.

According to KETK, authorities also connected him to the fatal shooting at PT Cole Park in Tyler on July 30, 2013, which resulted in the death of Briana Young, 20. So, in addition to his weapon charge, Hurd was issued a warrant for murder. Three other men were also arrested and indicted for murder in that case. However, Hurd was no-billed in November. A Grand Jury will no-bill someone if they find that there is not sufficient evidence for prosecution.
