Jonathan Daniel BurkettTYLER Tyler Police say 35 auto burglary cases have been cleared in East Texas with two recent arrests. According to a news release, investigators obtained a search warrant and located numerous stolen items worth thousands of dollars in the vehicle used in the latest crime. Police say Tyler investigators have been able to clear 18 auto burglary cases within the city. Smith County investigators have reportedly cleared 14 such cases, and three auto burglaries are said to have been cleared in Kilgore. Police advise, “Please remember to harden the target for auto burglars and remove all valuable items from your vehicle overnight.”

The two suspects were arrested January 14 following a Tyler burglary. They are identified as Jonathan Daniel Burkett (pictured), 23, from Tyler, and Jeremy Aaron Junkins, 20, from Whitehouse. They are accused of an auto burglary that took place that morning shortly before 3:15 at 9402 Tipperary. The officers learned from a resident that the victim had a car parked in the driveway that was burglarized. A garage door opener from that car was used to open the victims garage, where another vehicle was located. Police say the suspects burglarized that vehicle and left the scene.

Jeremy Aaron JunkinsOfficers with the Tyler Police Department stopped a black Chevy Tahoe, with two persons inside, that was leaving the area. Officers say they discovered property from the victim on Tipperary in the vehicle along with several other items of property stolen from other victims. Junkins (pictured on the left) and Burkett, were arrested and booked into the Smith County Jail on one charge of burglary of a habitation and two charges of auto burglary.
