Rashunda Renee ButlerKILGORE An East Texas woman is behind bars accused of stealing residents mail. KETK reports Rashunda Renee Butler, 31, of Kilgore, was booked into the Kilgore Municipal Jail Saturday. She was charged with fraudulent use or possession of identifying information, tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of marijuana.

Officer Jarret Bradberry responded to the area of Inwood Street and Edgewood Street on February 1 due to a reported mail theft. Police say Officer Bradberry quickly located the suspect vehicle from a reported description. A stop was made, and the driver was identified as Butler, according to police. Authorities say after initial investigation, Officer Bradberry found Butler to be in possession of marijuana, drugs, and stolen mail.

Kilgore police advise that its a common practice for criminals to steal mail from residential mailboxes. They suggest you place all outgoing mail in the USPS large blue mail receptacles or take it directly to the post office. According to police, having the red flag in the up position advertises to everyone that the residential box has outgoing mail, and many criminals are well aware of this.
