lindalerobbery1LINDALE — Authorities in Lindale Friday suspended the search for a robber in the area of South Street. KETK reports detectives with the Lindale Police Department are going to follow up on the case. Officials with Lindale ISD said a “soft lockdown” was canceled at 2:00 p.m. and student release proceeded as normal.

Lindale police say the victim makes bank drops for area businesses. Authorities believe that the robber knew that the victim would have cash, and jumped into the victim’s truck while it was stopped on South Street, near Farm to Market Road 849. Authorities say the robber struggled with the victim briefly, and lost both of his shoes in the process. He then ran away with an undisclosed amount of money. Fortunately, the victim was unharmed in the struggle. The robber is described as a young black man wearing a quilted jacket.

Lindale ISD Superintendent Stan Surratt said local public schools were placed on the “soft lockdown” as a safety precaution. There was no incident occurring on campus. During a “soft lockdown,” classes continue as normal inside the buildings. However, the doors are locked, nobody is allowed into or out of the school, and parents aren’t allowed to pick up their kids.
