TYLER — McKinney-based State Senator Ken Paxton checked in Thursday with KTBB on his run for state attorney general in the March 4 GOP primary. Paxton says his platform relates to defending the state against federal intrusion as outlined in the 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. “I think that’s become a critical role for the attorney general in this state,” said Paxton during a phone interview. “If we don’t push back on our 10th Amendment rights, the federal government will completely intrude, both economically and politically, into the state.” Paxton says a prime example of this has been his fight against Obamacare.

Paxton has also served in the Texas House. He says he has been one of the state’s most conservative lawmakers, if not the most conservative — and he considers himself the most conservative candidate in the attorney general race. His Republican opponents are Dan Branch and Barry Smitherman.
