thumb_voting-computerLONGVIEW — Gregg County voter turnout was at about 15%, which may sound low, but county officials say that’s only a little below average and they aren’t disappointed with that number. According to KETK, it appears voters were satisfied with how county officials were serving the county, as incumbents really swept the election. Incumbent commissioners Darryl Primo and John Mathis were re-elected to their spots. County Judge Bill Stoudt, who ran unopposed, will also serve another term. District Attorney Carl Durrough was re-elected as well, and Justices of The Peace Precincts 1 and 3 are back to serve Gregg County. We’ll have to wait until May to see who will serve as Justice of The Peace for Precinct 4, as neither contender received more than 50% of the vote.

Commissioner Primo calls winning re-election feels even sweeter than winning the first time and says he’s ready for another powerful term. “We’ve got to keep an eye out for the future. If we want to be competitive..if we want our children to graduate from our local schools..and go to college and come back and raise their families here..we need to be competitive..and prepared to deal with the future.” Primo’s plans include providing free wi-fi at the county courthouse as well as every school and library in the county, converting the county fleet to natural gas, and a text-call system that would notify jurors if their case has been settled, so they don’t drive to the courthouse or miss work for nothing.
