Wood County Authorities Probe Drug and Theft Ring
Posted/updated on: March 8, 2014 at 3:59 pmQUITMAN The Wood County Sheriffs Office is in the process of conducting a large scale investigation into a drug and theft ring that has been operating in the southeastern part of the county. According to KETK, investigators determined certain suspects were stealing property such as four wheelers and firearms to trade for drugs. The middle man drug dealer was then exchanging the stolen property for a larger amount of drugs, officials say.
As a part of that investigation, on Thursday, Wood County investigators obtained and executed a search warrant in Panola County near Carthage. Authorities report the search warrant yielded a large amount of stolen property including hundreds of firearms, four wheelers, stolen lawn mowers, and stolen vehicles, as well as drugs and paraphernalia. According to officials, arrest warrants will be obtained for a number of suspects, and the operation will result in the solving of numerous thefts and burglaries in Wood and surrounding counties.
