One Man Arrested Following Smith County Shooting

It happened shortly after 9:45 Monday night in the 23000 block of Dogwood Trail, located in the Enchanted Lakes subdivision in Northwestern Smith County. Authorities said three persons were wounded from a shotgun blast fired by Jerry Gene Allen, 56. Allen reportedly resides at the home on Dogwood Trail.
Reports indicate that Allen and others had been drinking at a bonfire gathering in the neighborhood when he got into an altercation with several individuals. Allen left the location and then went into his home and retrieved a shotgun. He then fired the shotgun, hitting a man and two women, causing non-life threatening injuries. EMS responded and treated those who were hit. Two of the victims were transported to a Tyler area hospital.
Allen was charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Aggravated Assault Causing Serious Bodily Injury. Bonds total $150,000.
