donaldstonemugGLADEWATER A 45-year-old Gladewater man has been jailed after Gladewater police found 100 grams of methamphetamine. KETK reports that Wednesday morning, officers with the Gladewater Police Department began a project targeting specific locations allegedly involved in the trafficking of illegal narcotics. Police Chief Rob Vine said the specific locations were selected due to information being brought to the police department by citizens indicating these locations were in some way involved with the use or sale of drugs in the city. Officers from the Gladewater Police Department Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division, Administration, Litter Abatement, the Lake Warden, the School Resource Officer, the citys Warrant Officer and two investigators from the Gregg County District Attorneys Office were all involved in the project.

Police say people at these locations were provided with a letter from Chief Vine explaining the reason for the presence of the officers and were then asked for consent to search the residence. In addition to searching these homes, officers issued citations to these residents for city ordinance violations, according to authorities. Police say the citations regarded litter and trash, as well as violations arising from failure to show proof of rabies vaccinations for any animals on the property if applicable.

Between 10:00 a.m. and noon, officers went to three different houses and were able to make one misdemeanor arrest for possession of marijuana, issued one citation for possession of drug paraphernalia, issued two citations for violations regarding junk vehicles and junk present on the property, made two arrests for outstanding misdemeanor warrants, and searched two of the three residences.

As a result of a separate, ongoing investigation, a narcotics search warrant was served in the 300 block of Sunset by the Gladewater officers with the assistance of a K-9 Unit from the Gregg County Sheriffs Office, the Gregg County District Attorneys Office, and the DEA Task Force. During the execution of this search warrant, a quantity of methamphetamine weighing 100 grams was located. As a result of this seizure, Donald Bruce Slone of Gladewater was arrested. Vine said Wednesday’s project was just the first part of an ongoing effort to address the city’s drug problems and let drug dealers and users know they are not welcome.
