thumb_cityoftylerTYLER — The Lake Tyler Marina resumed limited operation at 8 a.m. today. The marina hours will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday, weather permitting. According to a city of Tyler news release, sales will be limited to gas (92 octane, with ethanol) only at this time. Purchases may be paid for by cash or check; no credit cards accepted.

On April 4, the city announced it had terminated its lease agreement with the management team that has been operating the Lake Tyler Marina. According to a city news release published at that time, the action came after the city spent several months and years seeking corrective action on maintenance issues associated with the marina property. “The marina is an important asset to the city,” said Managing Director of Water Utilities Greg Morgan in early April. “We have been working with the manager of the marina to rectify several issues and have been unsuccessful. Ultimately we chose to terminate the agreement in the best interests of the community.”

The lessee filed a request for a temporary restraining order and injunction to stop the termination of the contract, but the motions were both denied by the court shortly before the termination announcement, according to city officials. “Currently, the contract has reverted to Citizens State Bank and they are working to develop a plan of action to operate the marina,” added Morgan at the time of the April 4 news release. “In the meantime, the city of Tyler will ensure the continuation of utility and septic service to the marina and surrounding area. There is no intent to take immediate action regarding any subleases.”
