TxDOT Project Updates

TxDOT signTYLER — Here’s a quick look at other work planned in Smith County by the Tyler District of the Texas Department of Transportation.

HENDERSON COUNTY – As early as Wednesday this week, TxDOT contract crews are scheduled to perform seal coat operations on the following roadways:
* West Loop 7 between FM 59 and FM 1616
* FM 59 between SH 19 in Athens and FM 753
* US 175 east of Athens between FM 804 and FM 315 (Saturday)

TxDOT’s seal coat program seals nearly 300 centerline miles of roadway each summer, extending the maintenance-free service life of those roadways by as much as 10 years or more. Local TxDOT crews have been preparing sections of these roadways over the past year in preparation for sealing.

Daytime lane closures will be in effect in each location while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes if possible to avoid long delays associated with the work.

SMITH COUNTY – Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to continue resurfacing operations on Farm Road 346 between U.S. Highway 69 Flint and Farm Road 2964 (Rhone’s Quarter Road) near Whitehouse. Once that work is complete, crews are scheduled to move to Farm Road 344 east of Bullard between US 69 and Farm Road 756.

Looking ahead to the Week of June 2, TxDOT contract crews are scheduled to apply a seal coat to Farm Road 344 between State Highway 155 north of Coffee City and Farm Road 346 in Teaselville. Daytime lane closures will be in while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic in two-lane areas.

GREGG COUNTY – Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to continue base and pavement repairs on the U.S. Highway 259 Kilgore Bypass between Farm Road 349 east of Kilgore and the south end of the Bypass. Daytime lane closures will be in effect while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic.

CANTON – Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to continue making base and pavement repairs on State Highway 19 between Interstate Highway 20 and State Highway 64.Daytime lane closures will be in effect while the work is in progress, and motorists are encouraged to be prepared to reduce speed and merge in and around the work zone.

CHEROKEE COUNTY – Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to perform shoulder and edge work on State Highway 204 between Loop 456 in Jacksonville and State Highway 110 in Ponta. The work is in preparation for a seal coat application scheduled for the late next week or early in the week of June 9. Daytime lane closures will be in effect while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic.

ANDERSON COUNTY – Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to conclude base and pavement repairs on State Highway 294 between Farm Road 323 and Farm Road 228 near the Cherokee County Line

Looking ahead to the week of June 2, TxDOT contract crews are scheduled to apply a seal coat to U.S. Highway 287 between State Highway 294 in Elkhart and the Houston County Line. Daytime lane closures will be in effect in each location while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic.

WOOD COUNTY – Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to continue resurfacing operations on Farm Road 17 between State Highway 154 in Yantis and Farm Road 515. Daytime lane closures will be in effect while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic.

RUSK COUNTY – Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to continue resurfacing operations on Farm Road 95 between Farm Road 1798 in Minden and U.S. Highway 84 east of Mount Enterprise. Daytime lane closures will be in effect while the work is in progress and flaggers will control traffic.
