Murder Suspect Back in Jail For Assault
Posted/updated on: June 13, 2014 at 3:12 amPANOLA COUNTY — A man involved in a fatal April shooting in Longview was back in jail Tuesday after police say he hit a Carthage officer with a brick. According to the Longview News-Journal, JaCorey Dewayne Williams, 22, of DeBerry turned himself in Tuesday after Carthage police say he evaded arrest and injured an officer with a brick over the weekend. Williams was arrested on charges of assault causing bodily injury, aggravated assault against a public servant and evading arrest. He is being held in the Panola County Jail.
Williams was jailed and released on $5,000 bond April 7 in Gregg County after being charged with tampering with evidence in relation to a shooting on Beaumont Street in Longview. The shooting left three people dead.
Longview Police Department spokeswoman Kristie Brian said in April that Williams threw a gun out of a car in the 1000 block of Lilly Street, about a quarter mile from where the shooting occurred on Beaumont Street. Jakerion Allison, 17, remains in the Gregg County Jail on three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in relation to the shooting. He has been held in the jail since April 16. Bond is set at $300,000.
