WISD Remembers Teen Killed in Smith County Wreck
Posted/updated on: June 24, 2014 at 2:24 pmWHITEHOUSE Officials with the Whitehouse ISD are remembering former student Braxton Nuon, who died over the weekend in a one-vehicle accident. “All of us at Whitehouse ISD are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Braxton,” said Jay Northcutt, Whitehouse High School Agricultural Science and Technology Instructor. “He was friends with everyone and was a hard worker with a true talent for welding.” According to KETK, Northcutt described Braxton (seen here from his Facebook page) as happy, upbeat, and always smiling. Northcutt taught Braxton for two years, most recently in his advanced welding class. “He had a bright future in welding and always put his focus and heart into each project he worked on,” added Northcutt. “He will be deeply missed.”
The accident happened around 6:00 Sunday morning on Farm Road 848, three miles north of Whitehouse. Nuon, 18, was rushed to Tylers East Texas Medical Center, where he died just before noon Sunday. The Department of Public Safety reports Nuon was southbound at an unsafe speed when he failed to negotiate a curve. His pickup left the road and overturned and rolled.
