Baby Dropped Off at Kligore Fire Station Placed in Home

KILGORE — The baby dropped off at a Kilgore fire station last week now has a home and a name. A foster family has taken the baby in and he’s been given a name, Noah Jax Henderson. The baby boy was just 12 hours old when he was dropped off at Kilgore fire station #2 early Saturday morning. The Baby Moses Law gives parents the opportunity to drop infants under 60 days old at designated “safe havens” which include fire stations and police stations with no questions asked.

According to KETK, Kilgore Assistant Fire Chief Michael Simmons says this is the first baby that has been dropped off with the fire department.

“It’s a neat thing to see..this policy has been around for about 15 years..previous fire department i came from we never had a child surrendered..down here to have it actually happen..we’ve only had the signs up about a hear and a half..and to be part of helping a young mother out of a tough situation..helping that child possibly find a home..it certainly it’s a neat thing to be part of and my guys are very proud that they were able to help out.”
