dairyfireCHANDLER — Multiple agencies responded to a major fire at a dairy farm in Henderson County Friday evening. According to the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, at around 4:15, several fire departments, the Henderson County Fire Marshall’s Office and deputies responded to the Hilltop Jersey Farm on the 19000 block of FM 3079. Henderson County Fire Marshal Shane Renberg stated fuel tanks were nearby, but were not a present danger. Firefighters doused the tanks with water to keep them cool. No injuries to people or animals have been reported.

Renberg said at least half the feed barn is a loss. No other structures were in danger. Chandler Fire Chief Robert York says the fire was fueled by hay in the back corner of the barn. “The owner had indicated they just put hay in there within the past two days.” KETK reports, the farm is located about four miles southwest of Chandler. A total of seven different fire departments responded to the blaze.
