TYLER — Here’s a quick look at events and work planned in the Tyler District of the state highway department.

SMITH COUNTY – Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to continue shoulder work on Farm Road 346 between U.S. Highway 69 and Farm Road 756. Daytime lane closures will be in effect while the work is in progress. Motorists are encouraged to be prepared to reduce speed and merge in and around the work zones.

GREGG COUNTY – Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews on Tuesday are scheduled to perform one day of work at the intersection of Farm Road 1845 and Farm Road 2275 (George Richey Road), then move to begin several weeks of base and pavement repairs on U.S. Highway 80 between Loop 485 in Gladewater and the Upshur County Line, followed by similar work in U.S. Highway 271 in Gladewater. Daytime lane closures will be in effect while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic in two-lane areas.

WOOD COUNTY – Weather permitting, Texas Department of Transportation contract crews on Monday are scheduled to begin seal coat operations this week on the following roadways:
• FM 17 between SH 154 in Yantis and FM 515;
• FM 514 between the Rains County Line and FM 17 near Yantis; and
• US 80 between Loop 564 in Mineola and FM 778 in Crow

TxDOT’s seal coat program seals nearly 300 centerline miles of roadway across the eight-county Tyler District each summer, extending the maintenance-free service life of those roadways by as much as 10 years or more. Local TxDOT crews have been preparing sections of these roadways over the past year in preparation for sealing.

Meanwhile, TxDOT maintenance crews this week are scheduled to begin pavement repairs on U.S. Highway 69 between the Rains County Line and Farm Road 1799. Daytime lane closures will be in effect in each location while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic in two-lane areas.

VAN ZANDT COUNTY – Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to perform seal coat operations on Farm Road 3227 between Farm Road 47 and State Highway 198 southwest of Canton. Daytime lane closures will be in effect in each location while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes if possible to avoid long delays associated with seal coat work.

RUSK COUNTY – Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to perform shoulder and edge on U.S. Highway 259 between Farm Road 1798 and U.S. Highway 84 in Mount Enterprise. Daytime lane closures will be in effect in each location while the work is in progress, and motorists are encouraged to be prepared to reduce speed and merge in and around the work zones.

CHEROKEE COUNTY – Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to begin base and pavement-repair work on the north bound lanes of U.S. Highway 69 between Rusk and Jacksonville. ANDERSON COUNTY — Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to complete seal coat operations on Farm Road 860 between Farm Road 837 and U.S. Highway 287, and then perform shoulder work on State Highway 294 between Farm Road 323 and the Cherokee County Line.
