Arrest Made in Mineola Shooting

Shelby Elayne AdamsMINEOLA — A woman suspected in a Mineola shooting has been arrested. Arrested late Monday afternoon was Shelby Elayne Adams, 18, of Mineola. She has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and her bond set at $50,000. Shot around 2:00 Sunday afternoon, at the Best Western Inn, at 100 Debby Lane, was Amanda Soape, 27, of Mineola. She was taken to a Tyler hospital with what were termed non-life-threatening injuries. KETK reports police investigators say Adams picked up the handgun and pointed it at Soape and it went off. Adams told officers she thought the gun was actually a Taser.
