Man Arrested in Troup-Area Shooting

Mitchell, QuashunnTYLER — A recent Smith County shooting yields an arrest. At approximately 2:30 pm Wednesday, Smith County Sheriffs Office detectives executed an arrest warrant for Quashunn Quacky Mitchell, 19, in connection to an incident on the 19000 block of CR 2343 north of Troup. Mitchell was arrested at an apartment complex on WNW Loop 323 in Tyler. Mitchell is being held on a $200,000 bond for a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

At approximately 8:50 pm on Sunday, June 13, the Smith County Sheriffs Office Dispatch received a 911 call stating that multiple shots had been fired in the aforementioned location. Smith County Sheriffs Office deputies responded to the call along with EMS and officers with the Troup Police Department, Arp Police Department, and Texas Department of Public Safety.

Officers arrived on scene to find two male victims, ages 38 and 48, who had been shot in their legs. The victims were transported by EMS to a Tyler hospital where they received treatment for their injuries. Witnesses stated that the shots were fired following an altercation involving one of the victims, after which the suspects fled the premises.
