Winona Faces Financial Concerns

WINONA — Concerns about Winona’s finances are putting city officials to work — and residents responded this week by packing a City Council meeting to hear a presentation of Winona’s financial audit. According to KETK, numbers show revenues are down, partially because surrounding cities have begun selling adult beverages. Other big issues were spending more than $180,000 on police, bond payments not being made on time, and utility rates being too low. The city is $350,000 more in debt since September of last year.
