Two Drug Suspects Arrested in Cherokee County

RUSK � Separate drug cases have resulted in two drug arrests in Cherokee County. Arrested in Jacksonville on Tuesday evening was Kyle Adam Tinsley, 24. He was arrested when a narcotics search warrant was executed at a residence in the 900 block of Alameda Street in Jacksonville. Cherokee County Detectives had been conducting an ongoing investigation into the sale / manufacture of methamphetamine by the suspect. Some of Tinsley’s illegal activity was documented as having occurred at the residence, which is less than 1,000 feet from East Side Elementary and Buckner Park.

Among the items seized during the search and arrest were supplies consistent with the manufacture and distribution of illegal narcotics, approximately $1,000 cash, and approximately 14.2 grams of methamphetamine. Tinsley was charged with two 1st degree felony counts of manufacture / delivery of a controlled substance, penalty group 1, drug free zone.

Late last week, a narcotics search warrant was executed at the residence of Jimmy Lee Woods, 51, on County Road3502 in Cuney. The search warrant was conducted by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) SWAT, which includes Detectives, Deputies, K-9 Unit, and Officers from the Rusk Police Department. Officers from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) K-9 Unit also responded for additional assistance. Cherokee County Detectives had been conducting an ongoing investigation into the sale / manufacture of illegal narcotics at Woods� residence and obtained a search warrant late Friday evening. When the search warrant was executed, Woods was not at home. However, shortly after beginning the search, Woods was observed on foot near his residence and was arrested. At the time of his arrest he had in his possession a .22 caliber pistol. Among the items recovered during the search and arrest were marijuana, crack cocaine, Xanax (Alprazolam), supplies consistent with the manufacture and distribution of illegal narcotics, cash, four pistols and two long guns.

Woods was charged with manufacture / delivery of a controlled substance, penalty group 1, a 1st Degree Felony and with manufacture / delivery of a controlled substance, penalty group 1, a 2nd degree felony.

According to sheriff�s department Captain John Raffield, even though the time frame of the investigations overlapped, they are not related to each other. And, depending on the outcome of the investigations, additional charged may be filed against the two suspects and additional persons may be charged.
