Longview Swim CenterLONGVIEW — The Longview Swim Center will be closed for the remainder of the season following a mechanical failure in the pool’s pump room. The facility was originally scheduled to close for the summer at the end of this week. Ingram Pool, located at 1400 N. Tenth St., will remain open through the remainder of the week. The Dog Days of Summer event will be relocated to Ingram Pool this Saturday.

After the pools close for the summer, the City of Longview Parks and Recreation Department will host the Dog Days of Summer (Dog Swim) from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, August 16. The special event will be held at Ingram Pool, 1400 N. Tenth St. The cost will be $3 per dog and owners will enter free of charge. A free tennis ball will be given to the first 50 dogs.

Dogs must have tags and show proof of current rabies vaccinations to enter the pool. Any dog showing aggression or a female in season will not be allowed in the pool. Owners may wade in the pool but will be asked not to swim. Owners should also ensure their dog is on a leash when not in the water. There will be door prizes and refreshments for dog races and contests. For more information, contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 903-237-1270.
