thumb_matt-schaeffer-1TYLER — As the immigration crisis continues on the Texas-Mexico border, District 6 State Representative Matt Schaefer and others invite the public to a briefing on the matter today. The event kicks off at 11:45 with a welcome and announcements, with the program scheduled for noon till 1:00 at Lakeview Church of the Nazarene, 10818 University Boulevard (Spur 248) in Tyler.

In an email to constituents, Schaefer says, “The crisis on the Texas border is historic. I have been in ongoing contact with statewide leaders and policy advisors to press for action, and to make sure they know East Texans are deeply concerned, frustrated, and even angry. Misinformation has been prevalent, especially on the legal role for DPS troopers, Game Wardens, local law enforcement, and the Texas National Guard. I will be sharing my views on the actions Texas can take, and the limitations we face.”

Schaefer adds, “Rep. David Simpson will also join us. Grassroots America Executive Director JoAnn Fleming will present information about her trip to the Texas-Mexico border with TEA party leaders and Breitbart-Texas journalists. There is no charge to attend. Attendees may purchase Subway box lunches on-site or bring their own.”
